Construction Dumpster Rental in Erie, PA

Construction dumpster rental is the core of what we do. Lake Erie Dumpsters Co keeps 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40-yard roll-offs moving between job sites across Erie County: new builds in Summit, Millcreek and Fairview, renovations near the bayfront and in Lawrence Park’s company houses, roofing after every lake-effect winter, and demolition from garages to whole houses.
Contractors call us because we answer the phone at any hour, we turn swaps around fast, and the price we quote is the price on the invoice: one flat rate per haul with the weight allowance stated up front.
Weight decides the size on a construction job. A gut renovation, a new build or a fit-out produces bulky, light debris, so a 30-yard is the usual container and a 40-yard the choice on a big site. Roofing shingles, plaster and lath, concrete, block and brick are heavy: they go in 10, 15 or 20-yard containers, loaded level with the rail, so the truck stays within its legal weight. Mixed loads are fine; tell us the rough split and we will pick the box. Our size guide has the dimensions and allowances.
Demolition in the City of Erie needs a permit from the Bureau of Building Standards and Safety in City Hall, Room 407, 626 State Street (permits@erie.pa.us, (814) 870-1313). City Code Article 353 asks for photographs of the building, the neighbouring properties and the street, proof of $1 million liability cover naming the City as additional insured, three working days’ notice to the Demolition Coordinator ((814) 870-1509) before work starts, sewer connections capped, the rubble hauled to an approved landfill designated by the Erie County Department of Health, and the job finished within 30 working days. Buildings 50 years old or more that the Historic Review Commission finds significant can face a 90-day demolition delay (§ 710), and contributing buildings in a historic district need a certificate of appropriateness. The City does not publish a separate demolition fee, so confirm it when you apply. The townships issue their own demolition permits: Harborcreek charges $25 for residential work, and Millcreek, Fairview and Summit want utility notices certified first.
Pennsylvania DEP applies the federal asbestos rules: a notification through its Greenport system at least ten working days before a regulated demolition or renovation, with a $400 fee for 2026 to 2030, filed with the Northwest Regional Office in Meadville (814-332-6945). Private residences of four units or fewer are outside the federal standard, but asbestos still never rides in a mixed load. Older Erie houses can have it in floor tile, siding, pipe insulation and plaster, so have suspect material tested before a gut renovation.
Our loads go to Lake View Landfill on Robison Road East (Monday to Friday 7 to 3), which the County says is the only landfill operating in Erie County and which takes construction and demolition debris and, by arrangement, asbestos, or to the Erie transfer station on West 16th Street. Erie County directs its waste to the facilities named in the County’s solid waste plan, so everything we haul stays inside that system. The City of Erie’s curbside service will not take construction materials, appliances or tyres, and its bulk collection is capped at three items by appointment, so a roll-off is the practical route for any real quantity.

One flat price, quoted before we deliver, with the weight allowance and any overage rate stated up front.
- Can you deliver to a site with no one there?Yes. Give us the drop location, gate code if any, and where you want the door facing. We send a photo when it is placed.
- How fast can you swap a full container?Usually the same day if you call before noon, otherwise next morning. For long jobs we schedule swaps in advance.
- What about a dumpster in the street for a downtown job?The City of Erie requires its prior approval for every temporary dumpster (§ 1129.03, QOL-10), and a sidewalk closure is a separate Bureau of Engineering permit (§ 719.11). The City publishes no fee or form for the dumpster approval, so we request it from Code Enforcement ((814) 870-1473) or Engineering ((814) 870-1371) before delivery, and bring the Parking Authority in for metered spaces.
- Do you take roofing shingles?Yes, in a 15 or 20-yard container sized for weight. Tell us the square footage and the number of layers.
